CouchSurfing in Texas!

I know I’ve told a lot of you about my CouchSurfing experiences while I was in England. If I didn’t, go to the CouchSurfing website to read up on it…I’m not going to explain it here. The reason I’m excited is that I got a request to host a surfer here in McKinney. Surfing and hosting is really common over in the UK because everything is so close together, but here in Texas we’re all spread out. If someone is coming to Dallas on vacation, they aren’t going to want to stay somewhere that’s 40 miles from all of the sites they want to see. They’ll want to stay with someone downtown. It only makes sense.

Then I got a request the other day from a family of 4 that were looking for a place in McKinney. They’re planning a 10 day family vacation through Texas to southeast New Mexico and back. The RV camper that they’re renting is here in McKinney, so they wanted a place to stay that was close to it. The timing of it all is working out great, too. They’re flying in to DFW Thurs April 2 in the evening, just around the time I’ll be getting back to Dallas from Nashville. I’ll already be downtown, so continuing to the airport to pick them up won’t really be out of my way. I’ve got the next day off to hang out with them before they head out to pick up their RV camper, which is less than 3 miles from my house.

I didn’t think I’d ever get the chance to host again, but now I do :)
I love the CS project.

  1. That’s cool. Maybe you can have more and more opportunities. I know you were a GREAT HOST to us for nearly 3 weeks! I only have one question…. how are 4 people plus luggage gonna fit in your little honda :)…. little children maybe?

  2. And you were great guests. I still think y’all should sign up – you would be GREAT hosts!

The kids are “pre-teen” as the mom put it. We’ll make it fit ;-)
