Allen Americans Picnic

The Allen Americans hosted a picnic for the season ticket holders. MOOYA Burgers catered, and I was impressed. It’s hard to find good pickles in a restaurant, much less a catered burger. They delivered the goods. It was pretty cool hanging out with the players and chit chatting, and I also won a door prize: 20% off of the team shop in addition to the 20% off I get as a season ticket holder. Pretty cool.

iPod Jack for my car

Back when I got my car stereo in 2005, I plugged a cord into the auxiliary input so that I could listen to my iPod on the car speakers. Since then, that cord has been dangling from a hole in the dashboard. It’s not pretty. I’ve been meaning to create my own in-dash input, but just never got around to it…until today.

I went to Radio Shack and picked up a 1/8″ stereo input jack and sleeve. Then I cut the tip off of the cord that’s been hanging out of my dashboard. As luck would have it, Honda sold my particular model with an “unnecessary” removable blank plate next to the cigarette lighter. I was able to pop it out and drill a hole in it for my new jack. Once I threaded the wire through the hole, I soldered the jack to the wire and screwed the sleeve back on to create a tight fit. I popped the plate back into the dash, and viola…pretty dashboard with auxiliary input. Now I just need to clean my car!

Sorry I didn’t take any pictures of the soldering process. I completely forgot!
